Email Errors

A problem that effects everyone, regardless of whether you are sending a personal email from your phone, or from a desktop program such as Outlook, is that just because you send it does not mean that it will be received.

In simple terms an email goes through at least two servers:

The server associated with your email address will look at the email you send and decide if it is suitable to send on. If it is fine then it gets sent to the mail server of the recipient, but if not then it will be rejected and you will get a return message explaining the problem. This might be for several reasons, such as:

  • The email address does not exist.
  • The email is considered as spam.
  • The email is too large.

However, if it is OK to send on, then off it goes but you no longer have any control over what happens to it. As mentioned already, just because you send it does not mean that it will be received.

For instance, the receiving mail server may have a completely different set of anti-spam measures, so just because your server didn't reject it, doesn't mean that the receiving mail server won't.

Note: 99% of all emails go through successfully. However, we know that any emails to a btinternet.com address may have problems. This does not apply to all btinternet.com addresses and why one will go through but not others we cannot say. But if someone is not receiving their emails, then please try another address if possible.

And exactly the same applies for emails sent by League Master. Our mail server (which is a third party SMTP server that sends out millions of emails a day) knows that any email sent by League Master is good to send on but we have no control over what happens at a recipient server.

Note: So, if you send out emails via League Master, and everyone receives them except one or two people, please do not contact us, as there is nothing we can do.
