A core part of almost all of the League Master functions is the
Player database. Every league or tournament will involve players,
whether singly or as part of a team, and the management of them, which
may depend upon the services you have set up, is an important
administrative task.
In addition, the functionality and fields shown for players will
depend upon your access rights, which will be one of:
When logging in as a Player or a Club, a link will be shown for
Player Profile or Players:

However, when using the administrative login for a League Site,
Players are accessed via Nominations & Club Functions.
 |
Note: The Players List is a complete
database of all players, and they are perpetual. This means that
once a person is added, they do not need to be added again, even
if they are playing in multiple leagues or tournaments, over
several years. |
General
Duplicating Players
Adding the same person more than once to the Players List does not
prevent leagues or tournaments from working correctly, but it should be
avoided. Each player has a profile page where their results are shown, along with
their win/lose statistics. If you duplicate a player, so that one
version of the player plays in one league, for instance, and another
version of the player plays in another league or tournament, you will
never be able to see the correct stats for the underlying player.
There are other reasons and ways to work with duplicated players, and
you can find more in Player
Duplication.
Renaming Players
The facility to change a player's name is provided so that spelling
mistakes can be corrected, or a name is changed through marriage.
However, you must not replace them with a different person altogether.
The issue with renaming players is connected with the same problem as
deleting them. Each player has a unique identifier (UI), so when you
look at a match result, you are looking at the name associated with that
identifier. If you then change a player's identity, you will also change
the name displayed in a match, even though the underlying UI is the
same.
Players List
The columns shown in the Players List are set via the "master" login.
Use the Add Player link to add new players and to edit an existing
player, click on their name.
Player Profile
The exact fields and functions shown on the Player Profile page are set
either via the "master" login or by the particular functionality of the
particular League Master site. However, a complete list is as follows:
First Name & Surname |
Mandatory Fields |
Registered |
If a player has registered via Registration
or Online Tournament Entry, then they are deemed Registered, and
must then have a valid email address, username and password. |
Associated Club |
If added by a club or admin for a team
league, then the player will automatically be associated with a
club and this field will not be shown. However for a Resource
Site, where you need to associate a player with a club, then it
will be shown for the main administrative login. |

DOB |
Entering a date of birth allows the system
to accurately allocate a player in tournaments etc. or for
league based rules. It is generally optional but it may be
mandatory for Juniors. |
Age Category |
Given a DOB above, the system will allocate
the age group automatically, and this will occur each time the
player record is saved. However, for more practical usage this
can be run automatically each day. To activate this, please
contact League Master. |

Username & Password |
A username and password is only needed if
you are using online entry for a tournament, or registration for
box leagues. Where a player has done this, they will be shown as
Registered (see above) and a username and password is mandatory. |
Enforce Login |
Where a player already exists in the
database for a team league, or where you add a player manually
for a tournament or box league, you will want to ensure that
they cannot remove a username and password. |

Hide |
You cannot delete a player who has already been entered
into an event. However you can hide them so that they do not appear
anywhere outside of the players list. You might wish to do this
if a player has left the club. |
Tournament Placeholder |
When adding players to a tournament draw,
you may not be able to complete the draw as players from a
preliminary round are waiting to be added. You can select
'QUALIFIER' from the player selection lists, or you can create
more informative dummy players such as 'Qualifier 1' and |
Additional Fields |
League Master can add a number of custom
fields. These can include a number of options that go beyond the
simply data fields of Custom |
Additional Functions
If logged in as an administrator, the following may also be
available:
Delete Player
Once a player has already been added to a nomination list, added to a
fixture, added to a box league or entered into any tournament, they can
no longer be deleted, although you do have the option to Hide them (see
above). Until then, you can delete a player.
Send Login Details
Unless the player has a username, password and email address already
added above, this function has no use. Under normal circumstances, a
registered player can simply use the Forgotten Password? facility if
they need to obtain their login details, but you can send it manually
from here.
Send Box Details
Much like sending login details, this is only relevant (and visible) if
you are running Box Leagues. This will send the player the contact
details of all those players in their box in the current period. This
information can also be sent to all box league players via the Send
Email facility.
